CASE STUDY: EASTLANDS BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION LTD: Understanding public relations
Client requirement
Eastlands provides a range of professional and administrative support services to National Grid Transco Group of Companies, pension scheme trustees and external customers. A pensions administration service was established to provide for the defined benefit section of the Lattice Group pension scheme, one of the largest private sector pension schemes in the country with over 120,000 members. In addition it numbers the pension scheme trustees of another FTSE top 100 company among its clients.
The management team wanted enhanced skills in public relations for staff to assist in understanding the market at the outset of the agency and sought Serene Communications help to provide this.
Our response
Serene Communications provided an intense course giving an overview of public relations together with key skills. We devised and implemented the training.
Client outcomes
As a result of the training course, the team members feel more confident in their management skills in this area and in dealing with the public and the media.
Client Response
“Eastlands is part of BG plc. Over the years, I have been lucky enough to benefit form many training opportunities including management programmes at leading institutions, so my expectations and standards of comparison are high. In a previous role I have also had management responsibility for training and development and I am acutely aware of the importance of obtaining value for money spent on training.
Your “Introduction to Public Relations” seminar was highly effective and excellent value of money. I thought the standard of input and facilitation compared very favourably with some of the more expensive course I have attended. Not a moment of the day was wasted and the course moved on from topic to topic at a brisk pace.
The course met my personal objectives in two ways. First, it provided reassurance that many of the PR initiatives we had already taken were on the right lines and secondly, it has given me confidence to try some new approaches that I might not have considered previously.
I recommend the programme to anyone who needs either a quick update or an initiation into the world of public relations.”
